The Gratitude Effect
No, we’re not talking about the book by Dr. Martini!
Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions available to the human experience, and for a wealth of reasons. Little wonder that folks are speaking about it, writing about it, singing about it, making movies about it, offering products and services for it and focusing on it more and more in general these days!
But it begs the question… why?
The Attitude of Gratitude
The most obvious reason is… it feels great! Gratitude for another is the most powerful way to uplift the vibration of that other, but even without that, gratitude is a luxurious emotion to experience. Students of the Law of Attraction will also tell you that, in essence, the more gratitude you feel, the more reasons the Universe will yield to you more things for which to be grateful. For deliberate creators, this last one is particularly of importance.
“Wonderful,” you say. “That sounds lovely and all, Jessie, but quite frankly… right now I don’t have a whole lot for which to be grateful!” Or you may be saying, “I hear you, but I’m WAY over here, I want to be WAY over there, and I don’t see how gratitude can help me that much to move that far!”
Firstly, good for you for being honest! Why, you ask? Because you can’t get to where you want to be until you make peace with where you are. And as luck would have it, there are in fact a variety of reasons why reaching for gratitude may prove far more beneficial to you right now, from where you are, with what you have now, than you may first realize.
An immediate benefit which you may, or may not, be aware of is in fact the most important benefit of all and one for which we would place all of our focus upon reaching for gratitude in every moment at the behest of all other reasons… You cannot feel gratitude and be disconnected from your stream of wellbeing at the same time. It simply is not possible. When you are immersed in gratitude, you are offering no resistance to that which you desire, nor are you offering a vibration of “lack”. And of course, when you offer no resistance to that which you desire, then that which you desire is free to flow into your physical experience.
Dear heart, this is HUGE. When you are connected to your Source, you feel great, your life feels fabulous, you are standing smack dab in the middle of the natural stream of wellbeing and abundance that is eternally flowing all around you and you feel it. What better reason could there be for constantly, and consistently, reaching for gratitude as often, and as much, as possible? Why would you not want to feel good?
Okay, okay… so there is also that little tidbit about knowing what you want, feeling gratitude for what you have, which connects you to your Source energy, which eliminates all resistance to your desires, which pulls in more reasons for gratitude, including that which you desire, which causes more gratitude, which speeds up your stream of wellbeing, which pulls in more things, which causes more gratitude, which allows for even more, bigger, better things to come to you, which causes more gratitude, which…
You get the idea, don’t you?
“Okay,” you say. “But I’m still in a place where I don’t have all that much cause for gratitude. And I’m still way over here! You want to tell me exactly how I’m supposed to get this ball rolling..?”
Oh, we are SO glad you asked…
Avalanche Alert!
While our answer is a simple, and perhaps expected one, it’s by no means as “anti-climatic” as it may first appear. Start with the small things. Start with the “now”. Focus often. As much as possible, every day, in every moment, start with where you are and what excuses for feeling gratitude you have available to you. And yes… we are specifically referring to the little details. Why? Because when you begin with the little details, with the everyday minor circumstances that give you reasons for gratitude, you immediately activate the Law of Attraction to begin attracting into your existence bigger, better and more reasons to carry on feeling that gratitude. We’ve already established that gratitude removes any resistance in your vibrational output, and we’ve also already established that, in gratitude, you are connected to your Source.
Can you see the recipe at work here? If you don’t, don’t worry. It is our promise to you that, in your effort to simply look for more reasons to be grateful, the power of your own gratitude will become all too clear to you soon enough!
So how does one start with looking for the little things for which to be grateful? We will be exploring this particular aspect in an upcoming article, looking at real world examples of seeing more clearly the blessings that surround most people on a daily basis, as well as exploring what it is like to be unabashedly selfish in reaching for gratitude as often as possible, in as many ways as possible. In the meantime, we would love to hear your own experiences, including your adventures with looking for gratitude as well as some of the results you’ve experienced from it.

So many things to be grateful for! I’m grateful for the most important living things in my life: family, friends, and pets. Nature, physical comforts, enough to eat, a place to live. I’m grateful that I HAVE a home to clean.. rather than, “Oh, how I dread cleaning..”
I’m grateful that I can see: the beauty of another’s expression, the joy on my dog’s face as she brings her ball to me, the unique beauty of an old broken down barn with sunlight streaming through the cracks in its walls…
I’m grateful that I can hear: an airplane overhead right now, the fireplace crackling, even the hum of my computer! The click-clack of my dog’s toenails on the wooden floor, my children telling me about their friends, the music that makes me want to dance.
I’m grateful that I am here.. so many friends and family have passed on and experience the world differently now. I’m grateful that I can DO things in this world!
Thank you, Jessie, for causing me to take a moment and reflect upon all that I have!!
