The Many Faces of Abundance: Now You See It!
When you hear the word “abundance”, what associations come to mind for you?
For so many of us, the concept of abundance is heavily one-dimensional. When we hear the word in connection with topics such as the law of attraction and prosperity consciousness, it brings to mind images of wealth, of financial reservoirs overflowing, the kind of cash flow that makes possible the acquisition of dream homes and dream cars, of exotic vacations and impromptu shopping sprees. Or for some of us, it can mean the money to be able to help those we love so dearly, to enable us to actively make a difference in the lives of our friends and family, in the causes we believe in and the charities and organizations we so passionately support and uphold.
Regardless of what money means for you, looks like to you, abundance isn’t all about having enough money to make our dreams come true. So often we hear about abundance, and how it is -supposed- to be flowing into our lives all the time. Yet when we hold it up the measurement of our definition, equating it only with the flow of cash into our -bank accounts-, and we don’t see that abundant flow of money, we can easily start to ask an all too common question…
“Where’s my stuff??”
But is it that your life really lacks abundance?
Actually, real abundance can come into your life in many forms, and it may not surprise you to hear that the flow of abundance into your personal experience can often take expressions over which you have the least resistance. It could very well be an abundance of money, but it can also be an abundance of generosity from the people in your life. You could be receiving this generosity in the forms of gifts of time and attention, where others are offering their skill and expertise freely to help you to scale a particular challenge or to meet a particular goal. You could be experiencing the gift of abundance in friendships, surrounded by friends who support and adore you, who nourish your soul and genuinely respect the value your precious heart holds.
And what of opportunities? Do you find that you frequently run across chance encounters and circumstances that end up blessing you with thrilling experiences or the timely answer to questions, objectives or desires? Do the right people just seem to show up in the right place and at the right time? Looking back on your life, how often have you been blessed with a valuable opportunity, only to not see it until after the situation evolved over time and the value became clear? Have you ever found yourself being given opportunities for travel, for new jobs or job advancements, for business opportunities or invitations to particularly beneficial events, clubs or organizations?
As a fellow creative, I can also highly relate to inspiration as a form of abundance. The visions suddenly appear with crystal clarity, or the ideas suddenly burst forth, seizing you with the need to get them out into physical form as fast as possible, where they flow with absolute effortlessness and are, somehow, the perfect answer to the issue, or issues, at hand. I have frequently been possessed with a sudden idea for writing, for an eerily well-suited design solution, for product and service ideas for myself or my clients. What a rush, and an immense satisfaction, when those beautiful flashes of insight suddenly start to flow, uninhibited and often difficult simply to keep up with as they appear.
It could be perfect health. It could be love, romance and passion. Abundance can take the form of actual gifts, items freely given when they are most needed. It could be a loving family, great food, a beautiful home. It could be more free time to pursue the things you truly enjoy, or a releasing of outside responsibilities that will no longer hold you back from chasing your dreams. It could be priceless advice and guidance, an educational opportunity, an unexpected expression of love and gratitude from another, or even… well, you get the idea.
So if looks to you like you are asking for more abundance to be given to you, and you don’t see any indication that your asking is being answered, consider taking a closer look at the details of your life’s experience. Abundance isn’t likely to hide from you, but if you are looking for one specific path of its arrival, to the detriment of all others, you still could very well be missing more evidence of abundance in your life than you may now know is possible.
Want to invite even more abundance into your life? How about answering the following questions:
What is your personal definition of abundance? What does it look like? What does it feel like? Without thinking too deeply, how are some ways in which you are already experiencing manifestations of abundance in your life? How has it changed your experience? Looking closer, name at least five ways in which abundance has been flowing into your life “under your radar”, and you weren’t completely aware until now? How does this now affect your definition of what it means to be abundant? What is the most unexpected way in which abundance has been flowing, or is flowing, to you?
